【タイトル】The mechanics of human translation

【要旨】

The current talk will review existing cognitive models of the translation process by assessing their claims against empirical evidence. In addition, the talk will discuss studies which investigate the effect of translation on behaviour. The emphasis here is on the measures which are used to analyse behaviour. Early studies employed reaction times, while more recent studies employ eye tracking methods. The latter are further divided into those which examine eye movements on longer stretches of text and studies which study the effect on very early eye movement measures. The current talk will also present new evidence which attempts to describe the cognitive and motoric mechanisms underlying translation.
